Cha Cha Room brings a vibrant reinterpretation of the Hong Kong-style Cha Chaan Teng to the heart of Shanghai. Designed as a contemporary homage to this beloved dining culture, the project balances nostalgia with a playful modern sensibility.
The interior draws on the familiar language of Cha Chaan Tengs — bold colours, eclectic patterns, retro textures — distilled through a curated, design-forward lens. Red lacquered tabletops, textured wall panels, and bespoke pendants in vibrant red glossy hues create an energetic sensual atmosphere. Playful elements, like grid-like feature walls displaying vintage memorabilia and stacked tea tins, anchor the space with a sense of identity and charm.
Diverse seating options — from cozy booths to communal round tables — are layered within an open, light-filled environment. The custom-designed tableware, lively palette, and crafted details reflect a precise orchestration of casual dining with a touch of theatre.
A space that captures the spirit of Hong Kong’s dining rooms — reimagined for Shanghai’s cosmopolitan crowd.
