The Bar occupies a discreet corner of the hotel’s first floor, refurbished to offer an intimate, club-style retreat within the urban bustle. The interior is anchored by full-height mahogany panelling, whose warm vertical grain establishes a rich backdrop for curated art and photography. Simple moulding profiles in the woodwork create a quiet rhythm, allowing the material’s natural depth to take centre stage.

A linear mahogany bar counter—topped in dark marble—serves as the space’s focal point. Behind it, mirror-backed shelving reflects the backlit array of top-shelf spirits, amplifying the soft glow of concealed LED trays and recessed downlights. At the bar itself, black-leather stools with brass footrests strike a balance between sensuality, formality and comfort.

Beyond the main counter, an inner lounge unfolds around a baby grand piano. Here, deep-buttoned red-velvet armchairs and sofas create intimate conversation clusters. Upholstered wall panels and a bespoke carpet underfoot were selected for their acoustic and tactile richness, tempering the livelier front bar area and supporting nightly jazz performances.
Lighting throughout is layered to enhance the textural interplay of materials. Discreet uplights graze the mahogany walls, while custom pendant lamps above the bar and small table lamps with fabric shades provide focused pools of illumination—an approach that preserves the space’s low-key elegance and prevents glare on the glazed façade.
The overall design weaves together dark woods, leather, brass, and soft textiles to forge an environment that is both refined and welcoming. By sequencing a dynamic front bar with a quieter inner lounge, the scheme supports The Bar’s dual identity as a convivial gathering place and a secluded haven—upholding The Peninsula’s tradition of understated luxury.
