Located in the Guohua Financial Building in Ningbo, Rong Ji Hotpot is a 475 m² restaurant that reimagines traditional Chinese dining through a refined, contemporary lens. Rooted in the culinary culture of Xin Rong Ji, the design balances restraint with richness, tradition with quiet innovation.

Materiality takes centre stage. Textured black stone, warm leathers, and brick walls are layered with intention, creating a grounded, tactile environment. Traditional Chinese patterns are subtly reinterpreted in textiles and surfaces, modernised through a controlled palette of earthy reds, deep blacks, and soft neutrals.

Lighting plays a vital, almost theatrical role—sensual and moody, it sculpts the space through shadow and glow, bringing texture and detail into sharp relief. The fireplace, both symbolic and functional, becomes the emotional anchor of the restaurant—evoking the hearth as a place of gathering, memory, and warmth.

Rong Ji Hotpot is not only a dining space, but a reflection on heritage, craft, and the cultural rituals that bring people together. It is a space shaped by intention, atmosphere, and the quiet drama of materials in dialogue.
